Eyelash growth – Latisse/Lumigan

Latisse is the brand name for the eyelash enhancing characteristics of bimatoprost 0.3mg/ml, a prostaglandin analogue and is available in the UK under the brand name, Lumigan.

Lumigan is a prescription for hypotrichosis ( inadequate or not enough lashes) making eyelashes grow longer, darker and thicker. There are several eyelash enhancement products on the market but the only one that is FDA approved and containing the active ingredient bimatoprost 0.3mg/ml is Lumigan.

This eye drop when applied to the roots of the upper lashes daily for 16 weeks doubles lash fullness.

Eyelid skin darkening may occur which is likely to be reversible. Lumigan may cause increased brown pigmentation of the coloured part of the eye which is likely to be permanent. This is a rare side effect in those with mainly brown eyes.

Hair may grow on the skin that Lumigan frequently touches. If you have eye problems you must consult your doctor before using Lumigan. Common side effects are itchy or red eyes. When Lumigan is discontinued, lashes will slowly return to their previous appearance.
