Dear Client,

In this newsletter I have a special offer for you which will encourage you to look your best in the lead up to Christmas and the New Year. I’d also like to announce the opening of the latest St John Clinic in Knightsbridge. I’ve decided not to increase my prices for another year. Finally, I’ll be continuing to offer the Botox loyalty scheme. Gift vouchers are available for any amount to be spent at any of the St John Clinics.

Special Offer – Free Obagi Elastiderm Eye Complete Complex Serum (worth £80) when you spend at least:

1) £220 on any filler, or

2) £220 on products from the Obagi Nuderm or CRX systems.

One per client. Offer ends 31.12.2012.

Elastiderm Eye Complete Complex Serum

Feeling a little tired? Give yourself a boost of caffeine! I’m talking about the latest eye serum by Obagi that will wake up your eyes. The new Elastiderm Eye Complete Complex Serum has the benefit of caffeine delivered via an innovative rollerball technology.

Caffeine is an antioxidant that helps reduce puffiness under the eyes and the Elastiderm Eye Complete Complex Serum combines this key ingredient with bi-mineral complex and malonic acid to help replenish elasticity and support collagen for tighter, smoother-looking skin. Dermal Fillers

The aesthetic medical industry (Botox, fillers, peels etc) is still growing despite the economic gloom of the past few years. Whereas neuromodulators such as Botox traditionally led the way, we are now seeing its growth overtaken by the use of hyaluronic acid based fillers. I think there are two main reasons for this growth in popularity:-

1.Safety and predictability of outcome – Restylane and Juvederm are world leaders. Allergies are extremely rare, they are long lasting but not permanent (they can be removed within hours/days).

2. Increasing applications means that surgery can often be deferred – I feel that one of the most tell tale signs of ageing is hollowing and shadows in the under eye area. Until recently, surgery has been the only realistic treatment option. The same goes for loose, unsupported skin in the cheek area. It is now a reality that these deficiencies can be corrected non surgically by the strategic placement of hyaluronic acid based fillers. Fillers can be used almost anywhere in the face where there are undesirable lines, hollows and depressions. My overall aim is to correct not to change; to take you back a few years, not to make you look like a different person. Undoubtedly, for some surgery is the most appropriate option. However, there are risks:- a” surgical look”, scarring, the anaesthetic itself, weeks of downtime, expense etc. Moreover, what is not appreciated is the fact that facial surgery often needs to be accompanied by volumisation (by way of fat or hyaluronic acid based fillers). Face lifts, brow lifts etc will not obviate the need for non-surgical treatments such as fillers and Botox® in the future.

Fillers from £220

Obagi – for beautiful, glowing skin.

Obagi is a world renowned brand of medical grade skincare. What puts many off is the perception that the initial few weeks are necessarily accompanied by severe redness, irritation and peeling. you can minimise side effects in two ways:-

1. Introduce the “active” Obagi products ie. Nu-Derm no. 3,4,5 and tretinoin (0.05% or 0.1%) gradually e.g. twice per week initially. It will take longer for your skin to look its absolute best but at least side effects will be minimal.

2. Try the Obagi CRX system which is gentler the Obagi Nu-Derm. With only four main products, including a Vitamin C serum(an antioxidant) and a good quality sunscreen, it is simple and quick for busy people to use.

Obagi CRX system- £265 ( 5 products) See photo at end of this newsletter.

Vitamin A and your skin- all women over the age of 35 please take note!

Your skin consists of a thin outer layer, the epidermis and a thicker sub layer, the dermis, where collagen and elastin are made. As we age, the dermis thins and collagen production declines, resulting in thin, loose, wrinkled skin. Did you know that tretinoin in cream/ointment form (or Vitamin A) is scientifically proved (in the “Lancet” medical journal) to stimulate collagen production and to actually reverse the signs of ageing in the skin?

Not only does it thicken the dermis but it evens out pigmentation and reduces outbreaks of acne. It is important to combine tretinoin (0.05% or 0.1%) with Obagi blender No.5 in order to drive it deep into the dermis where collagen is produced. Otherwise it tends to sit on the epidermis and cause irritation. In an ideal world, everyone over 40 would be using tretinoin in order to preserve their skin’s youthfulness. I personally have been using tretinoin 0.1% regularly for many years.
